Trivia for you did you know who I am?
I was born in Ireland in 1863 and migrated to Australia in 1884 for health reasons.
I had an unhappy marriage and returned to London in 1894 and worked as a journalist.
In 1899 the 'times' sent me back to Australia to investigate reports of ill treatment of aborigines.
I began to work among them studying languages, legends, rites and kinship systems.
I lived with various groups in Western Australia and from 1919 to 1945
I lived in a tent at various settlements on the edge of the Nullarbor Plain,
And was a well-known figure to passengers on the transcontinental train
As I always dressed in Edwardian clothes.
I wrote hundreds of articles on Aboriginal problems, which led to some Government assistance,
And published the semi-autobiographical, book
 'the passing of the Aborigine'
in 1938 -Can you tell me who I am?
